Breastfeeding Is Best

Did you know that mothers who breast feed their babies are absent from work less than those who use formula?

New and expectant mothers often struggle with the decision of whether or not to breastfeed their baby. Some have been told that it makes no difference whether a baby is breastfed or given formula. Do not believe this myth. It makes a huge difference in the overall health of your baby.

There is no substitute for breast milk. It cannot be manufactured in a lab. Breast milk is specially formulated for each baby, by his or her mother, based on that baby's needs.Breastfeeding may not always be convenient, and your breasts may become sore when you first begin breastfeeding. A little breast pain is not much of a sacrifice when it comes to making the best choice for your baby.

Pediatricians know that breast milk is better for your baby. Some pediatricians may recommend the use of formula, but remember they benefit financially from sick babies, not healthy ones. In his book, How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor, Pediatrician Robert Mendelsohn explains how pediatricians often make decisions that are not best for children.   1. There is no question that breastfeeding is better for babies, but is is very difficult for women working full-time outside the home. The job market and society in general don't really seem to support it. Even some husbands don't want their wives to breast feed.
